So I'm digging around on the forum looking for an answer elsewhere, but in the meantime I'll pose my problem here:

New to M4L I'm designing a patch which includes an interface with several buttons which I have mapped to launch certain clips throughout my set. However, whenever I 'fire' the clip, it triggers and does not turn off. Since I have the clip's launch mode set to 'Gate', I figured firing it would preserve that behaviour, but it isn't so far...

All I'm doing is ripping off one of the building blocks and modifying it for my own purposes. Using a Live button, I figured a bang message (set to bang from off->on) would take care of things, but like I said, I'm new to this and still struggling to even get the basics.

Can someone please point me in the right direction? I've a kick-ass idea I'd like to realize, and the sooner I can put it together and share with the rest of y'all, the better. Thanks.

Set the Live button bang transition to 'Both' and send it to a toggle that calls fire/stop.

Hrrmmm... I may've replied too soon, as it only seem to be working some of the time. Several button presses and it functions as you'd think, but then other times it does not seem to be triggering the stop message. Also, what needs to be done to ensure that the 'fire' command lines up with the clips launch quantization settings?

I will copy/paste the code you provided and see if that works, as my own attempts to DIY were unsuccessful.

Code is still bugging up on me for whatever reason. Can't figure it out..

While the solution you provided is a nice workaround, does anyone know how to just get the 'fire' command to defer to the clip launch settings? Sometimes I'd like to use different modes other than 'gate' for instance.
