Randomize monosequencer or other sequencers?

Post by patrickstinson » Wed Jul 24, 2013 7:52 pm

Is there any ways to continually add some random to the monosequencer? I would ideally have the velocity, note length, and chance of a step playing continually change over time.

I got this inspiration from the lividstep device (http://wiki.lividinstruments.com/wiki/Livid_Step), which adds a "chance" value to determine whether or not a step should play. It adds a really nice randomization to a sequence to give it a little more life.

Thanks!

maybe......
grab this - http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/1777/pocketseq

and then take an lfo or 2 or 3 envelopes and map to the R (randomize buttons)...
with audio coming from anywhere.. that should be fun

just did this. and turns out pretty cool results. randomizing the seq Direction and Pitch over a slow rate lfo:

thinking about it. there are sooo many ways to do this.
with any sequencer too, without having to manually hit a randomizer.
sweet idea. its always the little things that churn out great butter.

like a self evolving oscillator patch..or something

Woah, that one's really cool, especially since you can map to the random button. I also found the "Step Sequencer" max device that comes with the M4L Big Three pack, which has a probability, direction, etc.

indeedee.
thing i like about PocketSeq and few other custom m4l seq's.
is the Knobs. the 16 knobs for pitch, vel & dur.
and you don't have to Tab thru pages of shite just to access them.

having those, means 1, they are visually more appealing than a bar graph, as far as replicating analog sequencers,
and 2, easily mapped to the any manner of controller., and not having to mouse in pitch or step is by far
more interesting. keep those hands off the trackpad/mouse.

and of course, if it has a randomize/prob function. map that too.
