And of course, you will not go anywhere without doing all the Max and MSP tutorials.

Re: Want to learn M4L
You seem to be a little concerned about whether or not you won't be able to do things in M4L that you can in normal Max.
That is false, M4L - - IS - - Max, just deployed in Live.
You can follow those tutorials in a M4L patch just fine. In fact, since I do most of my work in Live, whenever I am doing anything Max related (Jitter, JS, Gen) I always do it inside of Live.
I find it easier to prototype things when I can apply my work to a loop, instrument, drum rack etc. Live takes care of all the mundane shit you'd never want to do in Max (sequencing, mixing etc.).
Good Luck!

Re: Want to learn M4L
I've been using the 'Electronic Music and Sound Design' books (vol 1&2 so far with vol 3 due at some point in the future).
I started Vol 1 a year ago then had to abandon it due to work commitments. I've started it again and find it by far the best learning experience with Max, primarily because of its balance of theory with practical application through patch design etc.
Its expensive but, in my opinion, well worth the money.
