Record only metronome with M4L

Since a "record only" metronome feature missing in Live... I wonder if such a device can be done in M4L. So it would know the status of Arrangement/Session Record buttons and would click each bar only if record is active.

Or perhaps there is a way to automate the metronome button with a M4L device so metronome would be active depending on the status of record buttons. Makes sense?
