Is there a m4l device that does this

Post by tw1nstates » Thu Oct 22, 2015 4:04 pm

I would like to store a bunch of values for a parameter then trgger them (pref using a midi keyboard)

Specifically I would like to be able to accurately play a delay line that's feeding back on itself with very short delays.

I think it would be a parameter scaling and preset kind of thing (could be wrong though).

It takes the incoming note, seees it's a C0 (for example) and then converts that to a very specific value in Miliseconds 61.156 for the delay line (Soundtoys echoboy in this case).

Given the resolution in ableton. I am guessing there needs to be some sort of parameter scaling involved as when you are down in the very low numbers 20hz or so

Also, on that note, I haven't been able to find a musical note to milisecond table or coverter that goes below C0 61.156ms, does anyone know where I might find such a thing? Again, I think I am suffering from the lack fo the correct terminology, rathe than an inability to look.

Many thanks

Not sure i get it, but why not make a rack with all you delay values in different chains, then select the chain with midi ?

Chapelier - you did, it's just not the simplest solution (would have to have multiple copies of each delay running - with soundtoys thats a lot of ram / cpu cycles :)

Ok so a parameter mapper with presets would do it. easily doable i guess.

THe part I wasn't sure about was due to the fact that when you are down in the low MS zone, the correct tuning would involve a few decimal places and my experience of controlling parameters via knobs or live's automation is that there isn't enough fine control..

Will investiage doubleUG's devices and look at your suggestions on the train later...
