M4L convolution reverb / Live 9.5 - Decay & size not mapped?

Post by spiral scratch » Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:21 am

Hi all,

Is it really possible that Decay & size parameters of the convolution reverb M4L device are not mapped? I don't find them yesterday night (Push 2 / ABleton 9.5). How could it be so? Am I missing something? It can't be so "by design"...

Best regards

It is by design that Decay and Size can not be mapped - this has not changed since it's release.

Thank you for answering, kleine.

No intention to rant (there are enough people for that around here), but making unmappable the Decay and the Size of a reverb seems very odd to me. I would be interested in knowing the thinking behind those "by design" words.

Anyway, it won't stop me (trying) making music.

The reason is, if i remember correctly, that in this case a continuous change of the parameter is not possible, therefore the mouse down is used to disable the continuous movement and mouse up sets the new value. This is not possible with a mapped parameter of course.
I hope this helps.

I was accessing my Return channels' devices on Push tonight, which I rarely do, and noticed I have a modified instance of Convolution Reverb Pro with 4 banks - the last giving you control over Decay and Size. Then I remembered this thread. I think user Airyck, which I haven't seen posting on here in a while, altered it in Max 4 Live.

Anyway, I'm sure he wouldn't mind me sharing it:
