Assigning two controller knobs to one parameter – how?

Let's say I have two hardware controllers.
And one filter on my master.
How can I assign a knob from each controller to control the same one filter parameter on the master?
I understand that probably has to do with M4L.

Make both controllers send the same MIDI message...
