M4L LFO device causes audible glitches on target vsti parame

Post by SLEEarts » Wed Aug 30, 2017 12:18 am

Hello all,

I used the stock M4L LFO device to modulate the filter cutoff knob on the Air Xpand2 VST instrument. Doing this caused many audible glitches, probably dozens per second. The glitches remain in exported audio files.

For the uninitiated, here's a link to the vsti product page. It's a pretty standard rompler.

Does anyone know of strategies to go about troubleshooting this problem? I have the most up to date versions of Live, M4L, and Xpand2.

For comparison I would apply the same modulation to the filter of some other similar instrument. If it works better your specific VST is probably the culprit. Otherwise the rate or range of the LFO may be to high for smooth operation.

Thanks for the idea. I agree, and I should have mentioned that I have modulated a lot of different synths with the M4L LFO before, and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. Also, the modulation rate is very low (0.01 - 0.1 Hz).
