Max for Live Licence

Post by jonel » Mon May 21, 2018 1:25 pm

Hi All,
I have been using Live 9 (Suite) for some time now and decided have a dabble with Max for Live. I hadn't realised that the version provided with Live 9 was just a trial. I note that Max for Live is now built in to the Live 10 Suite. Will this feature also be a trial?

Thanks

If you buy suite, you will get a license for M4L as well.

Thanks Erik. That is for Live 10? So that should make it worth the upgrade.

If you're the owner of a Live Suite license, it isn't.

While you have to install Max, you still only own the license for Max for Live. The Max environment that starts from the installed desktop icon IS indeed just a trial, but starting a M4L device from inside Live it would be activated and authorized from there on.

I remember reports around here that the M4L authorization in Live 9 Suite eventually may be lost every now and then and Max would need to be reinstalled, but I can't find them anymore.

Ah, this has been my problem. When I launch from the desktop I am told that the trial has expired. I was aware that I could use the M4L devices within Live though and that it is line with what you have just told me. So how do I launch the M4L editor if I want to have a look a development in M4L?

Youcan just drag any M4L device (Instrument/Audio Efect/Midi Effect) into a Live track where it's appropriate. On the device's title there's an edit button. That starts the editor.

There's an empty device for each category if you want to start from scratch.
