Max 8: Where do I put Externals and Patches?

Where do “max externals” and “patches” files go in Max 8?

I have a device (called Ms Pinky) that required me to put these in their respective folders inside of the Cycling 74 folder in previous versions of Max.

I dunno, but I discovered a new "Max 8" folder with subfolders inside "Documents". Maybe there? I'd prefer inside my User Library or something.

I just created a "Max" folder, then added it as a "userpath" in the menu Options >> File Preferences.

BTW, you can also add your VST folder as a "userpath", the VSTs will show in "Plug-Ins" in the left bar.
