I have a COLORNIE generic usb to dmx512 connector and I would like to send a tempo pulse to a led dmx can so drummers can see the tempo. ideally I would like the on click to be a different colour to the next 3 clicks can any one advise me on the best way to set this up in live and max

No precise answer for your particular setup, but in my experience (and I believe any human), it's impossible to get an accurate feeling of the tempo with a flashing light.

Very easy with a MIDI>DMX converter. I'm using the DMXIS interface, which is especially easy as the lighting interface is a Live plug-in. Just send a measure of quarter notes to the lighting fixture.

No Max needed.
