Hi!

I would like know if there is something like a quantizer for Ableton that can be used live. (for concerts)

I found one but it doesn t work for me. It does a good job quantizing the notes that I play a little "ahead", but with the notes that are a little "later", it will just move them to the next mark. Which means that if I play a note a milisecond later, I will sound on the next mark. If I set 1/8, it will sound on the next quaver.

I attached a picture so you understand.

My question is: is there a quantizer for live performances that you recommend and that donĀ“t have this problem?

It would be ideal that if I play a note a little later, It just leaves that note like that since it belongs to the previous mark, not the following one.

I will really appreciate any recomendation.

Thanks.

Well you can't really quantize into the past, unless time travel is a new feature in Max 8 ;). You can't quantize a note back in time, for example if you hit a note 1/32nd not behind the beat, you can't place that note hit on the intended beat because it has already passed.

Though, you could put in some sort of threshold setting, where if you are within a defined time from the most recent quantization event, you don't move the note back. This would prevent notes that are really close to the intended beat not be shifted an entire quantization value back. Probably a relatively simple modification.
