Remove Max Effects from project

Post by RedSkyRoad » Sat Apr 06, 2019 3:43 am

Hi,

I'm busy working with a friend who's got Ableton 9.7.1 Suite installed and I have 10.0.0.6 Standard. When I want to open the project, it tell me Max for Live Effects are not authorised and I cannot save. How do I remove or know which Max effects were used?

You're going to be even busier, when your friend discovers he can't load Live 10 sets at all.

The device should appear somewhat greyed out in the tracks' devices chain so you can easily find and delete them.

They are greyed only on his machine not yours.

It moans about software not being installed on your friend machine. You do realize that in order to load same project on different computer you need to have somewhat same Live version and around same Max for Live software and addon packs installed.

Regarding installations you need to login to your Live user account and all your Max for Live or additional Max packs should be there. You installed them on your computer.

Your friend need to do the same. Keep in mind you can not download licensed Max packs from your account and install them over at friend account unless your friend ordered them and he is having license file for them.

If you want to keep it simple - simply open your project on your machine and go channel by channel and remove any Max device you have (you can keep Ableton effects just remove Max effects). You can visually separate Max effects from Live effects by another icon (Max edit device icon). See screenshot. Zomm it in icons are small. When you remove all Max effects (al ldevices which have this icon) from your session save it somewhere and send to him. He should be able to open it assuming that he have same Live version as you have.

Maky, the problem is that he doesn't have M4L.

To the OP: you don't have any device in your tracks devices' chains that just look wrong?

Ahhh my bad then. I was under impression he is having M4L and his friend doesn't. In this case his friend need to do what i said above - before his friend send him session cleaned of M4L devices.

All the best
