pictctrl doesn't map to MIDI or keys

Post by Angstrom » Fri May 24, 2019 8:16 pm

I'm once again missing something obvious about Max's convoluted system but PictCtrl simply will not map to MIDI.
the triangular buttons are PictCtrls.

I have parameter mode enabled on the control, Parameter Visibility attribute is set to Automated and Stored
I've tried ensuring a bunch of things to test if they are the issue such as assigning a non-conflicting variable name, and assigning all sorts of default ints and float ranges to it. I tried setting various Toggle and Switch modes on the control to see if they work, even setting the switches to be dials. Nothing works.

Even the default PictCtrl example doesn't work, its not avaialble to map. I've searched the documentation, internal and online. I've googled. I've searched the max forums. I've searched these forums.

I've spent 90 minutes trying to make a button which accepts MIDI.
this damn application is so infuriatingly obtuse.

OK, I'm on 2 hours now.
The best source of info I have is this page: https://docs.cycling74.com/max7/vignett ... ter_enable

which does not work. Create max control of any kind. make if Float, param enable, init enable, set init var value, visibility: automated and stored. Save.

View the device in Live, activate MIDI mapping mode. Nothing happens.

This works for me: A live.button with opacity set to zero.

Code: Select all
