How to stop a clip immediately ?

Post by chapelier fou » Sun Sep 06, 2020 1:27 pm

When launching a clip, "call fire @launch_quantization n" overrides the global quantization.
But is there a way to do this with "call stop" ? (without the trick to trigger an empty clip)

In fact, I'm not sure how we are supposed to use the @launch_quantization argument.
My guess is it has to be paired with @record_length so it's only aimed for recording.

So the best way would be to quickly change the global quantization ? That could be problematic as my changes are triggered by scene launches.

I don't think there's a direct way to do it.
But let's wait for Darren or someone else to chime in.

Its a massive workaround but the clip would need to be set to Global Launch Quantization, and playing in RAM.

Both can be adjusted via the LOM which would allow you to...

1, Set clip playing to be loaded into ram at launch
2, At the point of wanting to stop get Global Launch Quantisation (store value)
3, Change Global Launch Quantisation to "None"
4, Call Stop on playing clip
5, return Global Launch Quantisation to the previously stored value

Thanks, I went for another way.
Not sure if that will work though. The action would be triggered by launching another scene (relying on the global launch quantization). So what happens if

1. You launch a new scene
2. It sets the global quant to none
3. Stop the clip
4. Recall previous launch quant setting

Will it launch the scene at the correct quantization ?

Damn, I'm too curious, I need to test. :D

Tested. If clips are fired (but not yet playing), they play accordingly to the previous setting.
In other terms : it looks like it should work.

I use the same process for Hot Cues within clips...
