CV Tools for equipment with voltage ranges of 0-5v

Post by spazige11 » Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:42 pm

I'm trying to control my foogers which have a 0-5v range. This is what I've found out. Has anyone got any useful tips to controlling 0-5v gear with CV Tools?

CV Utility

I'm using a CV Tools Utility to control Moogerfoogers.

The foogers are expecting 0-5v and the CV tools sends out -5 to +5v.

I turned up the offset 100% and now the lowest value is 0v, great.

However the highest value on the plot is 3.74v. It reaches this with 'Value' set to 50%.

When you push it higher than that I can see it keeps increasing the voltage on the output. I get to +5v at around 75% on the 'Value' knob.

If I push the knob any higher it no longer increases the voltage above the ~ +5v achieved at 75%.

The plot is misleading and suggests clipping of this signal over 50% rather than 75%.

It'd be great to be able to change the output range! switch between -5 to +5v or 0 - +5v for example. And for the plot to follow suit.

CV LFO

Similar stuff here as I use offset and depth values of 66% Depth and 75% Offset, which gives me a full 0-5v range LFO at the output. But the plot shows it being clipped again.

So a couple of quirks that could be improved in the tools.
