midi routing on different midi channels

Post by michelez » Tue Apr 27, 2021 2:20 pm

Hey folks I need some help: I am building a m4l midi device which needs to be on a bus midi track receiving from multiple midi channels. This seems to be much harder than I thought it would be. I am using a virtual midi port with each midi track set with "MIDI to virtual port" and "channel n". Strangely the midi bus track receives everything on channel 1 ignoring my channel assignment 😕. I looked for forum posts about this but nothing. Can somebody help?

Unless something changed with Live 11, Live tracks have never respected midi channel information in the way one might expect. Regardless of what channel the info arrives on to the track, what is passed to the devices is always on channel 1 (or omni, I forget).

Look for threads like this:

Make a search about "imp.midi".
You can do it with that.
But it's not working as expected with recent live versions...
For me it's the biggest problem of Live..
