Can I run 2 PCs on my one Ableton Licence using Ableton LINK?

Post by Hyperconfidence » Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:18 am

Hi Guys,
I'm guessing NO, but has anyone tried this? It will only be me using it, but want music on one laptop, and a dedicated desktop running M4L Zwobot video effects in high rez. Want this to get better vid effects and not kill CPU and GPU etc.

Anyone tried this?

Or even just running two laptops using LINK with one licence?

Lot of $$$$$ for me to have 2 SUITE licences, when only me using it.....

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can install your copy of Live on more than one computer.

You're correct about the only you using it part. That's the protocol, although in practice I think Ableton have no desire to pursue draconian measures to enforce this, because if your friend comes over to jam on your computers with you, at some point they will want it on their computer. 8)

Thanks heaps mate. Yes, understand we can install on two machines, but will Ableton Link recognise these two "linked" computers are both the same Ableton licence and say "NO"?

No that won't happen.

As far as I know the only thing is a limited number of license activations (4 or so?) before you have to contact Ableton.

As long as you are using it, you should be fine.
