Re: Add Your Own Lessons
Hey looking forward to the zip, thanks for doing this.
Re: Add Your Own Lessons
I looked through the PDF and didn't see anything about searching for metadata as outlined here:

specifically:

Changes from Live 8.0b10 to Live 8.0b11:
Improvements:
It is now possible to search for meta data. You can enter filter expressions in the form of token:value. Existing tokens so far are: LivePack, Vendor, Product, InfoText (InfoText refers to annotations). Tokens and values are not case sensitive, values are substring matched. Additionally, you can have search expressions containing whitespace if you use ””. E.g: LivePack:“Session Drums” This also works for normal searches (e.g.: “Crash 14.adg”)
Re: Add Your Own Lessons
I'm using this feature to add a built-in tutorial for my Studio Production Template. Has anyone found a way to add "comments" in the LessonsEN.txt file, so that I can write notes for myself, but they won't display in the actual lesson view? I comment the hell out of my HTML, JavaScript, shell scripts, etc, because I'm terrible at remembering what goes where (and why) if I don't have some kind of comment system in place to keep track of everything.
[Edit]
I figured it out! the comment markup goes like this:
It appears to be limited to the text immediately following the $Comment flag on the same line, but as long as you don't add a line break, you can keep on commenting to your heart's content.
Here's an example of how I'm using it to help keep my LessonsEN.txt file organized:

The DropBox link is broken. Does this file still exist somewhere?ryckeboerg wrote:Hello all,
At the end, I've finished (if ever it can be ) the "Ableton Live's Lessons' Missing Manual", and it's here:

Feel free to download it, and to send me comments or else too
Hope it'll be useful

Re: Add Your Own Lessons
Adding a note here as I couldn't find the answer anywhere Googling and a lot of trial & error to solve but your post came up quite high when searching, so I'll add it here unless anyone thinks it worthy of a bug report & fix post somewhere:
If you use https links with the "$Link" tag in "LessonsEN.txt" it doesn't work and you get "Failed to resolve the link to" error messages when clicking.
Basically https doesn't work and isn't recognised as a link, only http (without the s) does.
Something Ableton ought to fix given the importance of https to web url security - but now you know if you had the same issue and trouble finding out why.
It seems that most templates or files I found online, and even "tutorials" on Lessons, had a mix of the https links included that don't work either, so it's a common use-case but until solved by Ableton the workaround is changing https to http.
You're welcome

Re: Add Your Own Lessons
Below is an example of a simple custom lesson I created with Live 10.
The project name is 'Zodiac'.
The max width of the Help (Lesson) pane seems to be 584 pixels.
Do not exceed that width if you don't want your pictures to be truncated.
.tif files worked (SnagIt can create these). .jpg files did not work.
Note that the naked name of a picture displays it (from the same directory).
You can quote the name of a picture if you want to display the name.
Typically the project will have to be reloaded to display an updated LessonsEN.txt file.
Wish I could show you pictures here ...
Good luck!
