Monitor Advice
Monitor Advice
Ok guys I need help with this one, I’ve narrowed down 3 Monitors which seam to be up to the job of making trance. Any feed back on any of these would be great:
Fostex NX-5A
Mackie MR8
M-Audio BX8a
Fostex NX-5A
Mackie MR8
M-Audio BX8a
Monitors
Yea I would totally go with the Mackies. They sound real nice. I presonally use Yamaha HS-80M's. They are real nice. Very clear sound. Any of the Yamaha hs50 or hs80 give you a ton of bang for the buck. I went in an acoustic room and tested them all. They were very very good./

I have the BX8a Deluxe, they are amazing for a budget. I found mine for $300 new on ebay. Ive heard Mackies, they definitely are more professional sounding especially the low end, but the m-audios sound amazing with synths and very detailed. also very quiet, almost no hum or hiss

are you producing?
are you producing tracks for other artists?
If so, I might lean towards a monitor that reinforces what they want to hear (typically mackies, but Trance could be a whole nother ball game). If it's just for you, then I would go with the most honest on your list. In your case, it sounds like you like the Fostex.
Adams will impress AND give you accuracy beyond your other choices, but only if you can afford a bigger cone and a studio that gives both you, the walls, and your monitors some space. That's really true for all of your picks. But, because you're pitting only 5" options against eachother, I would agree that you should consider the Adams in the mix.
