is mulitracking possible?
is mulitracking possible?
Can you record multiple tracks (arm them for recording)
if so how?
Say I have 5-6 mics on a drumkit and I wanna record them on different tracks, how is this done?
I seem to be able do only record on one track at a time
what am I doing wrong?

I did that, well maybe my problem is I set up 2 audio tracks with stereo in?laird wrote:1. buy a multi-input soundcard
2. hook it up
3. under preferences, enable inputs 1-6 individually
4. create 6 audio tracks and assign them all an individal audio input (may have to hit I/O button to see the drop down menu)
5. arm & record
6. rock out
I have a 4input soundcard, Audio 1 has stereo inputs 1 n 2, Audio 2 had stereo 3 n 4.
I'm not really recording drums (it just made the easiest quick example)
I'm recording my Korg ESX and EMX at the same time.
I will review my preferences when I get home, But I'm pretty certain I've got steps 1 - 6 already... My only thought is I've set them up to STEREO? could this be the problem? I should have 4 separate tracks instead of 2, stereo?
yes... it's possible to have stereo inputs 1/2 and 3/4, but not be able to record from 1,2,3,4, individually.dubgil wrote:My only thought is I've set them up to STEREO? could this be the problem? I should have 4 separate tracks instead of 2, stereo?
And its also possible to have solo record enabled or disabled... if enabled, do what Da Hand says.
So I can record in stereo arming multiple tracks, but not individually?laird wrote:yes... it's possible to have stereo inputs 1/2 and 3/4, but not be able to record from 1,2,3,4, individually.dubgil wrote:My only thought is I've set them up to STEREO? could this be the problem? I can record my current set up, as da hand described, with 2 audio tracks
not 4 separate ones? Do I read this correctly
You can record four things simultaneously if you wanted to. Just check your options under the "audio from". You should have 1/2, 3/4, 1, 2, 3, 4. You can assign any of your inputs, either mono or stereo, to however many tracks you want. Just enable the tracks to record and you're good!
