Can you record multiple tracks (arm them for recording)
if so how?
Say I have 5-6 mics on a drumkit and I wanna record them on different tracks, how is this done?

I seem to be able do only record on one track at a time
what am I doing wrong?

1. buy a multi-input soundcard
2. hook it up
3. under preferences, enable inputs 1-6 individually
4. create 6 audio tracks and assign them all an individal audio input (may have to hit I/O button to see the drop down menu)
5. arm & record
6. rock out

I did that, well maybe my problem is I set up 2 audio tracks with stereo in?
I have a 4input soundcard, Audio 1 has stereo inputs 1 n 2, Audio 2 had stereo 3 n 4.

I'm not really recording drums (it just made the easiest quick example)
I'm recording my Korg ESX and EMX at the same time.
I will review my preferences when I get home, But I'm pretty certain I've got steps 1 - 6 already... My only thought is I've set them up to STEREO? could this be the problem? I should have 4 separate tracks instead of 2, stereo?

To arm multiple tracks, press the CTRL key (on your keyboard) and arm your tracks while holding this key. To solo multiple tracks, do the same but with the solo button.

yes... it's possible to have stereo inputs 1/2 and 3/4, but not be able to record from 1,2,3,4, individually.

And its also possible to have solo record enabled or disabled... if enabled, do what Da Hand says.

So I can record in stereo arming multiple tracks, but not individually?
I can record my current set up, as da hand described, with 2 audio tracks
not 4 separate ones? Do I read this correctly

You can record four things simultaneously if you wanted to. Just check your options under the "audio from". You should have 1/2, 3/4, 1, 2, 3, 4. You can assign any of your inputs, either mono or stereo, to however many tracks you want. Just enable the tracks to record and you're good!

This is also shown in a tutorial video on the ableton website!
