Hi Guys
Does switching instuments off save cpu?
or is there another way besides freezing a track?
say i want to render high quality audio clips from vst synth combos, but keep the combos in the set, but not using any cpu?
Maybe if i make sure there's nothing in the arrangement, and freeze the track?

there's a section in the manual that answers all of this.
basically, ableton instruments and effects use no CPU when not in use. For VSTs, you have to freeze the track and delete the instance of the VST to save CPU.

not true.
i can defo turn off silent instruments that are not in use and regain some cpu. the instance of them even being on takes a bit. esp hogs like massive and the ilk.
actually, any plugin cept the ableton ones seem to take SOME cpu to just have dropped on a track.

Yup, chapter 25 in the L7 manual on Computer Audio Resources and Strategies is definitely worth a read here.
