This is from the getting started guide on Akai's site. Someone had mentioned that the version in the video may be a pre-release, so maybe the white led's were switched for amber.

OFF – empty
AMBER – clip present, not playing
GREEN – clip present, playing
RED – clip present, recording

The green also looks more light yellow-green in every other pic or vid...

Hi Guys,
FYI, the green color you see is due to the film editor's color correction, sorry!

Yes, the crossfader is replaceable, from the rear of the unit.
Best,
Jesse

looks way better with green lights. should have been green and blue, not this nasty orange/red. basic colour psychology. did you not do your research? i demand a firmware update STAT.

Just to clear this up, it does have Green clip launch buttons, and green rings around the encoders.

Green/Amber/Red are standard tri-color LEDs. If we wanted anything different, we add $200/€200 to the end user price.
Best,
Jesse

Will we be able to scroll across (in lenghts leaps eight notes in the sequence) and down (through the midi notes) in the midi note grid with the up/down/left/right buttons in the same way as you can for launching clips, meaning that you can have a potentially limitless step sequencer with visual feedback for VST's Drum Rack etc. Kind of like soyuz for the monome. The faders could be used for note velocities maybe.

4 tracks of 16 steps would also be cool, and then you could scroll down to access more tracks

That would be unbelievably cool since I think the 4 track, 16 note step sequencer showing in maxforlive vid is quite limited. Is maxforlive coming out with the APC40 or later, and will there be bundle deals?

Shouldn't that read $200/€300?

hey phunkbeat
really nice demo :)

if you have time can you give me some light on this:

with the APC40 and Max is it possible to have a visual feedback
from the looper device (state: playing/recording/overdub ...)
via the Remote script ?

during the beta the idea i had was quite similar to the Lucifer concept
but applied to the looper (which is also an audio buffer) :
1/ get the duration info: lenght of the recorded loop = numbers of bars / tempo
2/ position: the looper playhead position like in lucifer : midiCC 0(start)->127(end)
3/ scrub the buffer with the playhead

Do you think it's possible to get something out of the looper in Max
at least state & duration ?

thanks
