Recording Vocals

I am having some difficulties getting my vocals to sound up to snuff. I'm a relative neophyte with Ableton. I'm curious as to what software effects and hardware people achieve to lay down vocals, and absolutely any advice on reducing air, S's, and static pops. Any help or suggestions on ways to experiment would be appreciated. Thanks all...

Theres so much that would make a difference.

Put all your effort into tracking really well:

- get the best mic you can afford (probably the most important)
- run that mic through the best pre-amp you can afford (second most important)
- spend time doing really good takes

From there playing with the mix, layering, reverb, delay, parallel effects, autotune, extremely heavy vocoding are all good to play with.

second line of defense against sibilants and pops would be a de-esser plugin. I think maybe there is a preset in Live7's Compressor perhaps, or maybe under racks? Or check www.kvraudio.com
