Help needed lifting samples into Sampler.

Post by Jarvisimon » Wed Apr 15, 2009 8:41 pm

I have recently watched the Ableton movie on how to make an impulse drum kit by lifting individual hits from a drum loop. Very informative indeed.

I am using the same method for Sampler but instead of lifting just the highlighted portion of the recording, the entire sample is being copied instead.

Can anyone let me know how to do this for Sampler? I would use the Impulse drum machine to do what I am doing but it's not anything like as flexible as Sampler.

Instead of dragging an Impulse to your empty midi track, drag a Drum Rack.

Use the same process shown in the video to copy a highlighted portion of the loop to one of the Drum Rack's slots. Each slot in a Drum Rack uses a Simpler, which can be converted to a Sampler by right-clicking the title bar of the Simpler and choosing "Simpler -> Sampler."
