ENYA Arpeggio!?

Post by stefanstorm » Thu Apr 30, 2009 12:30 pm

I'm totally in love with the epic track 'Storms in Africa' by Enya.
Does anyone know what type of synth is used and/or any tips on how I can recreate that sound!?
Help is greatly appreciated.

maybe the Random one setting? you could obtain a similar sound with Operator i believe. be sure to turn the Gay level up to 100%, short release...etc.

This video of her in the studio may be of some help:

And from the comments:
"Roland D-20 / D-50 Pizzicato Strings with an echo delay will replicate that sound absolutely perfectly."

Apparently Enya was a big fan of the Roland D-50's "pizzagogo" patch. Here's a video where someone recreated Orinoco Flow using a pizzagogo sample in Reason:

And if you do figure it out, I'd be interested to hear how.
