Latency / Sample Rate when syncing 2 computers on Ableton

Hi All,
I wanted to ask you all about an issue I and a friend have come up with when syncing our computers.
We have connected our Midi interfaces together with a midi cable and after much trial and error, can finally have the master computer start and stop Ableton together, and they both play at the same BPM etc. For a bit of background on us, it’s so we can DJ live together in sync.
One thing we found is that there seems to be a very very slight phase between the outputs, and we think it has to be down to the sample rate and the latency of our computers being different.
I’m using a Mac and my friend is using a PC. His sample rate and latency rate was high, where as mine was lower.
Do we need to get this matched so there is hardly any Phase between them??
Thanks
