Can you bypass automation during recording?
Hello folks,
I am fairly certain that you can't but does anyone know how you can avoid writing automation during recording into the arrangement view? Perhaps its so obvious I am going to blush.....
The reason I want to do this is that I often find myself recording an artist and want to maybe adjust volume levels on the fly without it treating it like automation. For instance I may be recording a singer and decide during the recording that the piano is too loud. I then want to bring the volume down by a few dB but don't want to stop the track and interrupt the flow of the singer. The way I do it now is that after the recording I have to go and delete any unwanted automation that I have created. This is obviously slightly time consuming and a bit annoying. So, what I am wondering is that if there is a way to bypass global record during tracking or if there is a way to record in the arrangement view without entering global record mode?
I guess it could go on the feature wishlist if not. I would request that holding down a modifier key (ctrl, alt or cmd) whilst adjusting a value would bypass writing automation. I guess some of you won't relate to this request but those of you who do I am sure will see the value in it (except if there is an obvious solution that I have missed)
Thanks in advance,
Gaz

Hey Forge,
I have just read your previous posts so I now understand the exclamation marks!
I completely emphasize with you and find it really strange that others in the forum don't see it. It got me thinking that maybe Live isn't used that often by people engineering others. When I am tracking I make a myriad of mix adjustments for both the purpose of monitoring but also inspiration for the mix in general. Hmmm I wonder if there is not enough enthusiasm for this whether we will ever see a automation bypass modifier introduced.
