Yeah... but I'm sure you see my point :-)
Indeed.

But no worries here. michaellpenman is cool with me and more importantly smallclone is getting the help he asked for...

What do you mean?
Just the usual stuff about the Norquist cutoff - it cuts off the very high frequencies in the overtone series which help to define the presence and timbre of a live instrument - which makes it easier to end up in mud :)

Sorry man the nyquist theory is to do with sample and the a-d process, it is a brick wall limiter that cuts the sample frequency at 22.05K this stops ripples etc
any way you dont need these overtones unless you are making music for dogs.

So man if you want a good bass sound a live sound try finding a sound you like record the midi, then try hard compression and saturation.
This give bass its hard edge.
Look at psp vintage warmer 2 this is my fav compression/saturation

I saw that you have Live 8, but what more can you tell us about it? Was it a download or boxed version? Do you have the suite?

If you have the boxed version dig around on the CDs you may find more samples/packs than you realized you had.

If not you can try http://www.ableton.com/livepacks

You can get some pretty decent packs here http://www.puremagnetik.com/
Some are free others you have to pay for but they're pretty cheap. 5 bucks for a months downloads or something like that. Been a while since I've worried about more sounds/samples. I have too many now. That shit becomes an addiction if you're not careful and you'll spend all your time lookin for sounds that work for you when in reality you have all you need you just have to work with them...
