any good "sclie to new midi track" preset?

Post by smog g » Wed Jun 10, 2009 11:00 pm

well well well. hi folks. ive been playing around with the new slicing feature (i use live 7.0.3)
and i couldn find a good one. not one. the slices sound grainy, end poppy, start sloppy and sound choppy.
when i use recycle all is fine. but using a built in feature is so convenient.
am i doing something wrong (guess not)? or is that feature just useless if you have a good beat loop as wav and want to rearrange it?
(now i only find the slicer option useful if i want to fuc* up beats...)

what do you think?
plz help a bro :-)

Slice to MIDI in AL is superb! Don't know why you are having such a problem.

maybe you should place warp markers first if you like the recycle method. its exactly the same if not better, i think, because you dont need a separate program (reason is a load of BS if you ask me).

so yea i think you are doing something wrong, because drum rack is the single greatest thing to happen to ableton live.

just use the built in and select warp after you set the markers. or if its just a drumloop you should be able to use 1/4 or 1/8 note slicing

Go to Covert operators they have there own slice to presets
also you can make your own.
Take a drums rack
add a sampler or simpler
set up the sampler or simpler i.e. decay, volume pan etc
add effect and dynamic etc
create macros for the parameters you want
now find the slice preset folder.... library, app support, ableton presets (MAC)
Drag in your drum rack... save
now when you go to slice choose your preset and bingo bango custom slices
