What distortion do you guys use and how?
I'm pretty boring and just use the built in Saturator or Redux

You on Live 8?
Try using a Freq splitter to route different freqs to different combinations of distortion devices. also, use a utility to split a signal to mono and stereo and apply different distortions to each band. there are lots of ways to do rack based freq splitting - do a forum search and u find a bunch.
How bout Overdrive, and vinyl dist, grain delay, ring mod and freqshift devices, nice distortion type effects can be found there as well.
Also, apply comps, eqs and filters before and after- chorus is nice. ...or any other effects for that matter.
so much more as well, just play around.
Other than Live, Id say guitar modelers are fun, Ohmicide rules! people rave about Izotope trash as well.
