Sounds like the analog love child of a mono synth and distortion pedal and/or micing an overdriven amp. Don't have the analog toys to play with the big boys? Try a simpler/sampler loaded with an analog wave cycle or the analog abe instrument through the dynamic tube, saturator, and the multiband dynamics. Play with the settings to get the desired crunch. If you are really into the distorted/overdriven sound, a bit of money spent on an analog distortion pedal would be a great idea. Hope this helps!

i've made a pretty gritty bass tone with some Operator, Saturator, Vinyl distortion and a few compressors. Just start playing!
