I'm thinking of putting together some 45min sets using Ableton Live Lite7 on a Powerbook 1.5ghz/1gb machine, will run the audio from a firewire drive.
Question: 'is it gonna cope?'

Guess you mean FireWire Soundcard* not drive??
Could also depend on your Harddrive Speed/capacity (speed more-so).
