Mapping 2 MIDI CC's from one footswitch on FBV MkII?

This question may be better suited for the Line 6 forum, but since I'm using my pedal to control Live (and I like it better here!) I'll give it a shot...
I recently got my hands on an FBV Shortboard MKII and so far it's been great to use. My question is that I'd like to be able to use one footswitch to trigger both the global record & play buttons at the same time. I've read the manual and from what I can tell, you can send 2 MIDI CC's in toggle mode, but that still means I have to hit the same switch twice, I want one press to trigger both. Does anyone have any experience with this footpedal (I just got it a couple of days ago so I'm still pretty green) or can you think of a workaround?
It's not a huge deal, it's actually more of an academic question at this point, but it's a lot more convenient to have one pedal trigger both functions, and I think the ability to send more than 1 CC per switch would come in handy later when I get deeper into programming the unit.
