Duplicate the Open Hat and don't put it in a choke group.

Why don't you just try it and find out? Would be a lot faster than having everyone explain what choke groups are, over and over again, even though that's not what you're asking. My guess is the higher numbered note will prevail, but again, just try it and see.

I'd like to see some sort of global choke command that makes the entire drum rack mono.

I use the drum racks for my sample chops and get annoyed having to go through each chain object and set the choke for each cell after I've dragged my chopped sample into the rack from the arrangement view (using ctrl-e).

I agree with what you're getting at. Is there anyway to automatically set all selected pads to choke group 'x', for example? Without having to change them all one by one?

No. They should have a "copy value to siblings" for chokes too.

The priority for choke groups in Ableton Live Suite 11.2 is that the sample pad that gets triggered mutes/gates/silences all the other sample pads in that group.

Choking is the same as monophonic mode on a synth. When you push 1 key/sample/sound, it will be the only sound playing. If other sounds where to be played in unison with the triggered key, you would use polyphonic mode.

Choking gets you a clean, snappy, clear defined sound, ideal for baselines (if using multiple bass sounds on different pads or the high-end frequencies in drums (hi-hats open and closed, rides, crashes, glitches, rimshots).

The difference is that some synths have different priority options. Sometimes the highest note always overrides lower notes for certain settings.
