Hey!

Although it is a rather obvious question, I haven't read anything on it - I hope I didnt miss anything.

First of all: automap somehow always crashes on my PC, so I couldnt find out if there's a way with that.

I know there is the possibility of recording MIDI-data to MIDI-clips by using the Launchpad like a MIDI-keyboard. Also there are a lot of sequencers, constructed with M4L or reaktor, which allow MIDI-editing in a more "save" way, meaning, that an eighth-note put in its place really sounds up on its place and not a "human" millisecond before or after. For my music I prefer the latter way of editing. Now a MIDI-clip is essentially nothing else than a very complex sequencer-"page". What I want to do now is I want to use the Launchpad to edit MIDI-clips the same way I would edit a sequencer. The way I imagine it, you would have to select a clip, then turn the Launchpad to antother page (user1 or 2), where the stored MIDI-data of the clip should light up in bars equal to the bars that represent notes on the screen. This data should be editable via the buttons, and of course a cursor, indicating the playback position, and zoom/scroll-options would come in handy.

Well, maybe this is all trivial, I just might have missed the right button the whole time -- if so, could anybody tell me where this button is? If not, can anybody do something about the whole thing?

if you have m4l check monomeemu+the monomidi device. it allows for direct editing of notes inside clips and supports chromatic mode for drum sequencing and scales for melodic stuff.

My tip would be to have an accessable Key Commands editor, so viewing what key command does what and editing them is easy.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but here's a little clip I made to show people how to send midi output to a launchpad to make it glow and thus create patterns with it (in time with your music):

You can also download some pattern templates here:

Oooorrr... You could use LpAnimator.jar to create animations directly on the device :) Sorry, for dropping in like this but this just fits too good
I just uploaded a beta version. Its free and should run on Mac OS and windows. Try it out if you like. (check the link in my signature)

These are definitely, some of the sweetest finds I've seen. In almost 3 1/2 years of owning my Apc-40. A couple months ago i purchased a LP. I've been looking for a way to control an in depth live PA via LP along with my DJ set up. It's about time someone got the idea and designed a functional mod that doesn't require hours of programing. I would definitely rather be making music, than writing code.

Thanks for the share you rock!

Hi guys. Totally new to this, and want to learn. Just got this for my birthday, and don't really know where to start. I have installed drivers and software, but what I was wondering is: do I really need another instrument (MIDI) connected to my PC, or should it work with just the Launchpad? I am not able to get any audio from my device.

Please help!

Thanks.

Spent the past few days deciding ways to implement my LP for improv performance by mapping its regular layouts. A few tips I've discovered:

In User 1 and 2, the arrow buttons are available as momentary CC presses (also up and down in Mixer if you don't think you need that), but the Super interesting thing I've discovered is that holding them down while switching to another page leaves them pressed. I tend to use them for the xfader or quick fx. Sometimes I want to stay on the B channel, or keep an effect on while I play.

Instead of creating a midi channel to send led feedback to User 1, you can group that instrument and add 'External Instrument' as a chain. Then assign that device's on/off for sending the led

In live performances, I don't always have access to stereo output. This frees up the Pan page (I just went ahead and assigned a harsh Resonator to the entire page for now. Weird minuscule delay feedback noises).
Also that frees up my Pan row in the Mixer page :D for now I have it mapped to synth transpose Range: -5 to +7

On the Vol, Pan, and Snd AB pages, the 'stop, trk on, solo, arm' buttons are free to assign. They could be handy either for something you'd want access to while you're lost in one of those pages, or better yet, triggering parameters directly related to those pages (delay types or reverb freeze or something)

I think I would be more concerned if you *WERE* getting audio from your launchpad, considering that it is a midi instrument.

Hey,
what is the best free template/mapping for launchpad in case of dj-sets :?: Where can I download at least something...?
Saw a lot of post about Aurex, but it isn`t free, otherwise Oktopad 2 Lite (free version) couldn`t be found anywere to download and try...

I have also akai lpd-8, but don`t think I can instantly find something suitable for both out of the case.
