Slicer effect like from the Roland MC-505

Post by Psy-Kai-Q » Mon Apr 05, 2010 2:00 am

Hello

I have a Roland MC-505 and this Groovebox has a slicer efx, which I can chop a melody in a rhythmic pattern. But it is only internal, speak I can use it only with the Roland unit.
Exist a slicer plugin for Ableton, which is similar like the silcer from the MC-505?

A slicer effect is more like a gate effect.

You can either use AutoPan or use the Gate effect sidechained to a source for various rhythmic options. Finally there is also the use of Dummy Clips for full control of volume cutting.

Camel audio Camelspace. Great multieffect and king in gating. Heart off the effect is a sequencer. I use it on almost every track. Check out the website.

I have the same probem and just dicovered the LFO 2.0
Haven't tested it yet but i think it should work well as a slicer. You can let the LFO controll a parameter in your effect chain. So you could put it on a Gate or on the Volume. I will try it soon.
And its free!
