How can I clean up the noise in this vinyl recording?

As you can hear there is a ton of scratchy noise going on, very unpleasant. What's the best way to get rid of this noise? Luckily it does seem to be limited to the left channel, so that probably helps, but I would hate to get rid of the left channel completely. Thanks for any help!

there's a filter in audacity which you could try. might as well - it's free

you take a sample of the noise and then it generates a noise profile and processes the track
