Post by korbbit » Sat Jul 10, 2010 7:22 am

hey, im a massive noob when it comes to hardware and stuff. i have an oldish Yamaha keyboard connected to my fast track ultra via a midi cable(it doesnt have usb output). and i cant seem to figure out how to get ableton to recognise the midi input from the keyboard(it recognises the fast track ultra fine with audio input) or if its even possible..??

The MIDI input from the Fast Track is your Yamaha. It is that port, which you have the yamaha plugged into. So, it reads from the Fast Track port. And whatever you have plugged into that port will be what it reads (that being your yamaha :) )

What IS listed in the MIDI-Ports section, then?

Each MIDI device recognized by your OS should be listed with an input and output line.

Is there any option to de/activate the MIDI interface in the fast track's control panel?
