Anybody made an Ableton instrument that sounds like a theremin?

A theremin basically sounds much like a simple sine wave. Lots of glide and LFO to make it interesting and you're good to go.

I don't know of any native Ableton instrument but there's a free VST called Super Spooky Keys that's fun to use which sounds allot like a Theramin.

One of the presets is named "Whistle Me This" and it sounds very Theramin like.

That'll show you how to make one in operator. Of course, the same steps work on almost any softsynth with mono-mode, glide, a sine wave oscillator and an LFO :)

I also like to use the saturator plug to add a little extra colour to it, you can get some nice harmonics if you push it just a little bit (makes it sound slightly vinyl-like, Portishead style).

Excellent! Thanks very much. I used the audiotuts guide. Sounds just like what I was looking for, and it's a pretty cool site, too.

Yes audiotuts+ is good most of the time (some of their tuts are a bit useless), and it updates most days, so bookmark it :D
