Midi mapping the mpc 40 and mpk 61 together

Post by DM1000 » Mon Apr 25, 2011 8:40 pm

Hey Guys
I run ableton 8 with the APC 40 and MPK 61 controllers both being used at the same time.
I've noticed when I map certain knobs on one controller that they overlap between both controllers? ?
For instance when u map the 4th slider on the mpk61 keyboard, it also ends ups remapping the master volume slider on the apc 40

Anyone know how to workaround this so that the controllers don't use the same midi maps?

Help??

its because you have the "midi in" on the tracks set to receive from all midi channels. If you set your keyboard to send midi on a specific channel (using the editor program) and set the track to receive midi from that channel they shouldnt overlap as long as you dont set it on a channel the apc40 uses. (i think anything after channel 8 isnt used by the apc, but not positive)

for instance i have my mpk25 set to send midi on channel 10, and the tracks midi in is set to channel 10. I have another keyboard on channel 11, and my apc40 receives from all channels. You can then assign midi maps on each controller without overlap (and play two keyboards with seperate tracks armed simultaneously)

Hope this helps
