Whys this delay/reverb gotta be so damn hard to accomplish??

Post by abletony84 » Thu May 05, 2011 7:33 am

Hey!

Anybody know how to do this delay/reverb thing? Sounds like shockwaves fading into space or something - kinda hard to explain but - you'll know once you listen to it.

Example 1: http://tinyurl.com/45x4ne8
Example 2: http://tinyurl.com/3pzz35z

Replica (have a go at it will ya?): http://tinyurl.com/3uyrr4u

I've tried my best automating the Reverb plugin in at the end with extra long decay time etc. with all sorts of delay plugins in front / back, but I just can't seem to get anywhere near it.

Many thanks!

sounds to me like a dub delay feedback thingy even though i found it a bit difficult to really hear whats going on in there.
anywho, try setting up a ping pong on a return (100%wet), and a reverb on a return as well... the clue is to enable sends on the returns, feed the ping pong delay back to itself(f.ex, return a sends to return a), play around with the filter and automate stuff! you can even record it and sculpt the effect if preferable, make sure it ends up in a reverb of some sort though..
not sure it´s what you´re looking for, but thats my best bet anyways..

good luck

Try AudioDamage DubDelay...
No! I'll never use the Push-App Live 9 !!!

Definitely best accomplished with Delay and Verbs on send/return tracks and assigning sends to a midi controller for some live tweaking. When you get it right, you may even be able to set up a macro for it (but that might be too much work for the trouble).

good luck!

Can you guys please try it yourselves first? Because it seems like you're all just taking some guesses. I can't get anywhere near the real thing using any of this stuff.

This site has a decent explanation of how to set this up but his examples are not too good.

You can also try out ValhallaFreqEcho

Or even Tal-Dub

I'm hearing the exact same type of reverb/delay thing on the new Lazer Sword album:

Maybe y'all can check that out?

Example 3: http://tinyurl.com/6fvvslq
Example 4: http://tinyurl.com/68mqbf6

I just can't get anywhere near the real thing though:

feedback_loop Project.zip

Don't mind the On-Screen Keyboard:

sounds like video game laser samples, with a filter delay and reverb, automated from small to high, high being the tail end of course
