Operkick - a kickdrum rack with Operators

Hello. I made this a while ago and figured I should share it. Operkick is a rack for making kick drums using 2 instances of Operator, with some additional distortion and compression. There are macro controls for:
  • Pitch
    Decay
    Ramp
    Ramp Decay
Tick (the 'pop' at the start of the kick)
    Distortion
'Boom' (the amount of sub bass)
Any Elektron Machinedrum owners might recognise the macro control names; this was originally intended as an emulation of the TRX-B2 machine, but it fails somewhat in that respect. Nevertheless, it's possible to get some decent sounds out of it.

As with other instrument racks, you can drag it onto a pad in a drum rack, which is how I use it.

It requires live 8.2.2 and Opertator (obviously) and Amp.

Feel free to experiment and pull it apart. If you make a cool derivative of the rack, please do share it.

Cheers. Yeah, I have Oper808, it's great. Shout outs to MDK! I'm hoping I can eventually build a whole drum machine using Ableton instruments and effects, based off my favourite machines in the Machinedrum, but I might never get round to it.

Oh, and I just realised that my rack requires Amp as well.

Dredging up old topics as a way of saying hello...I came across this while searching for some kind of strong Elektron/analog-ish styled drum machine creations. Loving the Operkick, pretty sure it's going to be a go-to kick drum for me in the future, so many thank to r_v for it.

It inspired me to try and do a whole kit like that; so, I took that kick drum and created a few other pieces of kit based off of it, and pushed it into a drum rack.

I'll undoubtedly end up modding this more, but I was having trouble (so far) with a few emulations of a standard kit: I couldn't quite get a rim sounding decent, the snares need some heft, my open hat is a bit odd, and the crash is very odd. I do enjoy the kit so far, but would love to expand and modify it for maximum analog-sounding depth and fullness. I thought some experimenters on here might be willing to suggest some changes as to tweaks for the kit.

Furthermore, if anyone feels like modding the kit to their own needs or for different styles, etc., I think that could have some interesting results as well.

Let me know what you think, or if it's a bit of a daft exercise since there's SO many quality drum kits and samples out there, or I'd really love some suggestions for pushing the kit towards a strong punch and feel of an Elektron/analog style drum machine.

Many thanks again to r_v for the original and the inspiration; everything in the kit is modeled after his original Operator kick drum.
