Creating DJ transition tracks

Post by ESKAE » Sat Oct 22, 2011 12:35 am

I couldn't find this anywhere on the forum so please excuse me if this has already been discussed.

How do I create a DJ transition (songs that pitch from their normal BPM to another faster /slower mid song) in Ableton?

Thanks

If you warp in Repitch mode- and assuming you stay on or close to the actual BPM- not only will you preserve the transients of the original wave better than with other warp settings, but you'll emulate a traditional DJ transition when you change tempo. But like most dance music since disco, this is most immediately suited for steady BPM tracks, as each clip seq. will be retuned.

If you're talking about making a transition track from scratch then it's simple*, just write a track and modulate the tempo envelope as desired.

*simple if you're already an accomplished producer ;)
