How to MIDI map pitch shift

Post by tracy » Sat May 19, 2012 10:21 pm

I am using the AUPitch plugin. I would like to map pitch shifts by semitones on to my Launchpad, but I can not figure out how to do so.

The plugin accepts numerical data and slider input in cents (100 cents = 1 semitone). How do I tell one Launchpad button to make it 100 cents, the next to make it 200 cents, etc.

Is this possible?

This could be tricky, because its not easy to find out which step corresponds to 100ct in that scale when dealing with 3rdparty plugs... But you could try ClyphX:

download, read manual, install, create clip and name it like [] MIDI CC 1 0 12

Wow, ClyphX looks amazing! I notice it is a couple of years old. Does it still work with the current Ableton (which is also a couple of years old. Never mind.)

Seriously, ClyphX looks really useful. Anyone else here using it?

OK, I downloaded, read, and installed. The plug works great! Thanks for turning me on to it. I will use it a lot!

OK, now I think I get what you are saying about using a CC control command. Are you recommending mapping the Pitch to a dial like this?

Im not sure how to map the CC to the dial. Its easy with an external controller, since all you do is move the dial or slider, but how to I map it to the ClyphX clip?
