Re: overdub
In the session view... I know for the little circle...
It's just that, when I press on that little circle,
All the record enabeled tracks record a new clip...
In my setup, it bugs me...

Re: overdub
I still havent found anything in the preferences!
this little "improvement" evolves from a minor inconvenience to a full on show stopper!!
And why does the midi Overdub Button launch armed audio clips anyway!!
the hell!?
Help!!

Re: overdub
I will use Live 8 for drum trigers improv and Live 9 for composing i guess...
Re: overdub
I thought I was the only one who noticed this. I hate it. I just want to preset MIDI OVERDUB to always be on and leave it on.
I like to make empty 2 bar clips and just play my drums while launching from the APC40 but this throws me off.

Re: overdub
let me explain then:
I'm speaking session view only,
Liveperformances on stage.
maybe a good 90 percent of live users
never have multiple tracks armed.
there's no problem with midi overdub,
if you do just that.
But: in a live situation, where you have
several instruments connected to live,
and several channels armed, that damn
new midi overdub button launches
every single one of the armed channels.
so instead of just adding new notes to
your midclip, you record in my case 7
audio clips, which then block the signal
of all the live instruments, connected
to these channels.
so basically, whenever i've overdubbed some
new drumnotes into a running clip, i then have
to manually remove every single one of the Clips
that damn Midi Overdub Button just recorded.
(actually, the former "overdub" button
is now called "session record" and that's
probably where it all began... i don't know
what they were thinking!!)
BTW: Shift-click on midi overdub does the trick.
But it's really bad, that we have to use the mouse
and keyboard again, after we all have put so much
effort into not having to use the mouse & keyboard
on stage!
that's really kind of annoying...

Re: overdub
cool! thanks chapelier fou!
that thread pretty much covers it all...
I've already mailed them and received a few propositions:
1. remove all other recbuttons (cmd & e)
// but i need them...
2. mapping a Button on the APC to the little
plus icon next to the record icon.
// but thats only for arrangement.. so nope!
3. only arm the one track, i'd like to overdub.
// but i need the others. that's bullshit!
So, i'm trying those patches next!

Re: overdub
@funken :
I personally won't touch my laptop while performing.
Solution for now is in the thread above, using aka.keyboard max external :

anyway, working perfectly with aka.keyboard. In this case, mapping the letter O.

Try the patch above (aka.keyboard required), it works perfectly.

Re: overdub
How can recording into record enabled slots when you press the record button be considered as a bug? surely this is exactly what you would expect.
I'm confused... why enable tracks for recording if you don't want to record on them?
