Make Live Retina-Ready (since Ableton won't)

Post by username652719 » Tue Apr 23, 2013 4:44 pm

Open up Live 9's package contents. (right click on app)

Do "Show package contents" on the Live.app. Edit Contents/Info.plist using your favorite text editor. Just above

Code: Select all

</dict>
</plist>
Place this:

Code: Select all

<key>NSHighResolutionCapable</key>
<true/>
Then, make a copy of the app so that OSX will notice the change. Now, the info window will not show "Open in Low Resolution" as checked. Launch Live. Now your waveforms and midi data will be high resolution.

Unfortunately all the text stays pixelated, which is the most annoying thing for most of us. Still, it's a start, thanks!

One nice thing is, if you use Max 6.1 (high-res-enabled Max), the max for live devices are all in high-res :)

Firstly, Thank you for this! I've done this several times in OS X Mavericks and only the the menu bar has been in retina. However I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and the new Ableton Live 9.1.5. This fix now makes ALL OF ABLETON retina compatible. This is incredible, I've been waiting over a year for this!

Live 9.1.6 supports Retina. It was released October 30th.
Make some music!
