Launchpad S, Ableton MIDI Sync Preferences, Annoying Problem

When I plug my Launchpad S into my laptop and use Ableton Live 9 Lite, in the MIDI Sync Preferences it always shows up as 2- Launchpad S or Launchpad S #2 but never just Launchpad S. This is extremely annoying when opening a project file that involves the Launchpad S and having to check the MIDI Sync Preferences and adjust other things to make the Launchpad S work with the project file. Is there any way to set it so that the Launchpad S just shows up as Launchpad S in Ableton?

I had another Launchpad S before this one. The first one broke so we exchanged it for this one. If this is the problem would there be any way to reset a setting in Ableton or something similar etc. so that when plugged in it just shows as Launchpad S?

Does it have to do with the usb port you use?

Yes, it will change name based on which USB port it is plugged into.
It says Launchpad S for one, 2- Launchpad S #2 for another, and 3- Launchpad S #3 for the last.
