Hello. I need to build 8-band mixer with customised frequency ranges and controllable gain for each band.
So far I tried 8-way effect rack with Multiband Dynamics effect connected in parallel or as a tree, with adjacent frequency range. The parallel version gives terrible phase cancellation.
Tree version splits bands into two at level, giving 3 levels or a binary tree. brings less cancellation, but is till not transparent, especially at low end.
I also tried to connect multiple Linkwitz-Riley filters in parallel, but the effect is similiar to Multiband Dynamics.
Now, how can this be done correctly and in a transparent way? So there is no perceived change in sound if the filters are on?

Here's a tutorial on using EQ8 and Utitlity devices to build a three-band crossover that you should be able to extend to more bands.
