I have just found a way to lock a control surface on the fly by just mapping a midi clip launch button.
I am not at all a programmer, etc....I got around it this way and works like a charm.
Zillions of people can't get around this, so i decided to share what i found today.
Here is how it goes:
All you need is to install CLYPHX.
Very simple. Load it after as a control surface, for example beneath the apc40 control, which in slot 1.
Create a midi clip.
Rename it to: [test]CS1 DEV LOCK
And that s it.
Now when u play that clip, whatever is focused in devices, will be come locked. Play it again and unlocks.
It just works and does what i needed. Maybe not elegant but efficient.
NOTE if your control surface is in slot n3, then u use CS3, instead of CS1. CSn, is the general formula, where n is device controler number in those slots in setup.
Anyways, i was looking for this for ages. could never do it. For all the non technical it guys out there, i hope i made your day happy, and if i didnt have a nice day still.
Regards.

Very nicely done. I imagine you could also your an x-control rather than an x-clip and even lock it to a different device than the one assigned to clyphx
